Students required to keep a log of books read independently. Independent reading daily. Focus on comprehending and retaining both literal and implied meaning in classical texts. Emphasizing critical thinking, vocabulary development, and confidence in reading. Their mastery will be tested in the compositions of narrations. (See Grammar/Composition)

Grammar and Composition built upon reading and narrations of readings, as well as written work done for other subjects such as science, history, math, and religion. Oral narrations for young students and written narrations for older students. Narrations to build upon the critical thinking and writing proficiencies. Students will develop strategies for turning their experience, observations, readings, and analyses into evidence suitable for academic writing. 1 Paragraph a week on an subject.

Spelling and vocabulary will be developed through reading and writing. Occasional spelling and vocabulary words will be given to students, but no formal spelling/vocabulary tests will be given.
